🔍 Role Overview – Instrument Validation Specialist
Cognizant is hiring an experienced Instrument Validation Specialist to join its growing team in Brussels, Belgium. This role is focused on ensuring the compliance and validation of laboratory instrument software within a regulated GxP environment.
As an Instrument Validation Specialist, you will play a key role in documenting and validating laboratory instrument software according to EMA regulatory standards, supporting software validation lifecycle activities, and ensuring alignment with PPD IT SOPs. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional IT, QA, and laboratory teams to maintain compliance, quality, and operational excellence across validation projects.
🧭 Key Responsibilities & Leadership Scope
🧩 QA Strategy, Governance & Delivery Excellence
Document and validate software installed on laboratory instruments according to EMA regulatory standards.
Migrate instrument software management processes to align with PPD IT SOPs.
Ensure software validation activities comply with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Support validation lifecycle activities within regulated pharmaceutical and medical device environments.
🧪 Testing Ownership & Process Excellence
Capture, analyze, and document software requirements and system configurations.
Develop validation test cases, validation protocols, and supporting documentation.
Perform validation activities for laboratory instruments and medical device software.
Maintain complete validation documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
🔧 Tools, Metrics & Continuous Improvement
Create infrastructure diagrams and data flow diagrams.
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to ensure compliance and system integrity.
Support continuous improvement of validation processes and documentation quality.
Ensure accurate documentation for audit readiness and regulatory inspections.
🤝 Cross-Functional & GxP Collaboration
Collaborate with IT, QA, Laboratory Operations, and Compliance teams.
Work closely with stakeholders to ensure successful execution of validation activities.
Communicate validation status, compliance updates, and project progress.
Support regulatory audits and quality assurance initiatives.
🧠 Required Skills & Expertise
✅ Core Validation & Compliance Skills
Proven experience in Instrument Validation or Medical Device Validation within a regulated GxP environment.
Strong technical writing skills for validation documentation and protocol development.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
High attention to detail with strong compliance and documentation skills.
Solid understanding of EMA Guidelines and IT SOPs within pharmaceutical or medical device industries.
Experience performing risk assessments and managing validation lifecycle documentation.
