👥 Company Name: ImpactQA
✨ Job Position: Senior Manual Engineers
🗓️ Experience: 03-06 Years
💰 CTC: ₹ (Attractive compensation offered based on skillset, experience, and interview results.)
📅 Availability: Immediate joiners
🔍 Key Responsibility:
💫 Analyze and interpret business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to ensure complete understanding before test planning.
A Senior Manual Engineer at ImpactQA is expected to dive deep into every requirement shared by stakeholders or product teams. This includes reviewing user stories, understanding business goals behind each feature, and analyzing acceptance criteria in detail. The professional must communicate with cross-functional teams to remove ambiguity, ensuring that test planning is based on complete clarity. Thorough business understanding ensures higher test coverage, reduced risk of defects in production, and a more accurate validation of the software’s functional behavior.
💫 Create well-structured test scenarios, test cases, and documentation for new features, enhancements, and change requests.
The candidate will be responsible for writing comprehensive test scenarios and detailed test cases that cover positive, negative, edge, and boundary conditions. Proper documentation ensures traceability and helps teams maintain consistency throughout multiple release cycles. The role demands precision and creativity to ensure that all possible user interactions are captured, enabling consistent and scalable testing practices across projects.
💫 Conduct end-to-end testing including functional, regression, integration, UI, and smoke testing across web-based applications.
The position involves executing different types of testing to ensure the product meets quality benchmarks. Functional testing validates individual features, regression testing protects against issues caused by code changes, and integration testing ensures different modules work seamlessly as a whole. UI testing checks layout, responsiveness, and user experience, while smoke testing validates the basic stability of new builds. This multi-layered test approach ensures robust product delivery.
💫 Perform exploratory testing to uncover hidden defects, edge cases, and usability inconsistencies.
Beyond scripted testing, the candidate must think like an end-user and identify issues that may not be caught through predefined steps. Exploratory testing is crucial for discovering overlooked scenarios, identifying unexpected behavior, and ensuring smooth real-world usage. This requires strong intuition, system understanding, and curiosity to uncover subtle issues.
💫 Re-verify defect fixes, perform sanity checks on builds, and validate system stability before and after releases.
After developers address reported issues, the QA must thoroughly re-test them to confirm the resolution and ensure no related functionalities have broken. Sanity checks validate whether new builds are stable enough for further testing. This continuous verification ensures the software remains reliable across multiple development iterations and release cycles.
💫 Log defects with detailed reproduction steps, screenshots, videos, and supporting evidence using tools such as Jira.
Clear defect reporting is essential for efficient resolution. The role involves documenting precise reproduction steps, attaching relevant artifacts (screenshots, logs, videos), and categorizing issues with appropriate severity and priority. The more accurate and descriptive the defect report, the faster the resolution cycle.
💫 Monitor defects throughout their lifecycle, collaborate with teams for resolutions, and regularly update statuses.
The Senior Manual Engineer must track defects from logging to closure. This includes following up with developers, providing clarifications, participating in triage calls, updating statuses, and ensuring timelines are met. Ownership of the defect lifecycle is a key aspect of maintaining product quality.
💫 Prepare accurate test reports and share daily/weekly progress updates with stakeholders.
The role involves presenting concise yet detailed test summaries, execution status, risk assessments, defect statistics, and potential release blockers. These updates help stakeholders make informed decisions regarding release readiness and resource planning.
💫 Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and business analysts to clarify requirements and ensure alignment on expected behavior.
Effective communication is crucial for delivering quality. Senior Manual Engineers must engage in ongoing collaboration, asking the right questions, raising concerns early, clarifying expectations, and fostering a shared understanding of product objectives. This teamwork minimizes gaps between business needs and technical implementation.
💫 Actively contribute to Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Being part of an Agile team, the professional is expected to participate in all ceremonies. This ensures transparent communication, alignment on goals, early identification of issues, and continuous process improvements. Contribution in retrospectives helps improve future sprint efficiency.
Technical Skills:
💫 Strong grasp of software testing fundamentals, including SDLC, STLC, testing types, test levels, and defect lifecycle.
A solid foundation in testing methodologies is essential. The candidate must understand every phase of the software development lifecycle, testing cycles, different types of testing (functional, regression, security, usability, compatibility), and how defects flow from detection to closure. This knowledge ensures systematic and effective testing operations.
💫 Hands-on experience with test and defect management tools like Jira, X-Ray, or Zephyr.
Familiarity with leading tools helps maintain structured and traceable testing workflows. The engineer should know how to manage test cases, execute test cycles, log defects, generate reports, and track metrics using these tools.
💫 Basic understanding of web fundamentals such as HTTP, browser behavior, client–server architecture, and UI workflows.
Knowing how web applications function internally helps identify deeper issues. Understanding requests, responses, caching, cookies, session handling, and DOM structure enhances the ability to detect complex defects and validate front-end/back-end interactions.
💫 Working knowledge of API testing using tools like Postman is an added advantage.
Even for manual testers, API-level knowledge enables better validation of backend logic, data exchange, and response handling. It significantly strengthens the ability to perform integrated testing.
Soft Skills
💫 Excellent analytical thinking with strong problem-solving abilities.
The ability to analyze issues deeply, break down complex scenarios, and detect root causes is essential. A sharp analytical mindset ensures efficient test planning and defect identification.
💫 Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
Manual testers often interact with cross-functional teams. Effective communication improves clarity, accelerates defect resolution, and builds stronger collaboration.
💫 Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work across different shift timings when required.
Flexibility and adaptability ensure smooth coordination in global teams, especially when working with international clients and distributed development teams.
💫 A quick learner with a positive attitude — open to feedback, growth, and continuous improvement.
The candidate must embrace learning opportunities and adapt quickly to new tools, processes, and technologies. A positive mindset fosters team harmony and enhances productivity.
