🔍 Essential Skillset & Responsibilities:
💫 End-to-End Quality Ownership for Web, API & Backend Systems
As a Senior QA Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and accuracy of complex web applications and backend systems. The role demands hands-on expertise in manual testing combined with automation exposure to validate APIs, databases, ETL flows, and microservices. You will be responsible for maintaining high-quality standards across fast-moving Agile projects while supporting business-critical releases.
💫 Requirement Analysis, Test Design & Execution Excellence
You will work closely with QA Leads, Product Managers, and Engineering teams to analyze business requirements, user stories, and technical specifications. Based on this analysis, you will design detailed test cases, test scenarios, and test plans that ensure maximum functional coverage and risk mitigation across applications, APIs, and databases.
💫 Manual Testing, Regression & Integration Validation
This role requires strong hands-on experience executing functional, regression, integration, and system-level testing. You will validate end-to-end workflows across web applications, REST/GraphQL APIs, and backend services, ensuring seamless data flow, system stability, and adherence to acceptance criteria in Agile sprint cycles.
💫 API, Database & ETL Testing Expertise
You will perform in-depth API testing using tools like Postman, Swagger, or similar, validating request/response payloads, error handling, and business logic. Database testing using MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server will be a core responsibility, including writing complex SQL queries for data validation, integrity checks, and backend verification.
💫 Automation Collaboration & CI/CD Integration
While the role emphasizes quality ownership, you will also design and contribute to automation test flows for Web and API layers. You will collaborate with automation teams to integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI), enabling continuous testing, faster feedback loops, and improved release confidence. Experience with Karate, Katalon, BDD, or data-driven frameworks is highly valuable.
💫 Defect Management, Reporting & Agile Delivery
You will log, track, and manage defects using tools such as JIRA, ensuring proper triage, prioritization, and closure. Regular test execution reports, regression summaries, and quality insights will be shared with stakeholders to support release decisions. Strong alignment with Agile/Scrum practices, sprint planning, and retrospectives is expected.
🔍 Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
💫 4+ years of experience in Quality Assurance with strong hands-on manual testing expertise.
💫 1–2 years of exposure to Web/API automation testing.
💫 Strong experience with RESTful APIs, backend services, and microservices testing.
💫 Excellent SQL skills with hands-on database validation (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
💫 Exposure to performance testing of Web/API systems is a plus.
💫 Familiarity with BDD frameworks, Karate, or Katalon is an added advantage.
💫 Experience working with US or European clients and distributed onshore/offshore teams.
💫 Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain testing strategies and automation approaches clearly.
